Theology students from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) participated in the Check My School (CMS) validation of school information and services in two public schools in Manila, held 23, 26, and 28 March 2012.

Together with the CMS team and other youth volunteers, the DLS-CSB students validated data reported by the Department of Education (DepEd) on available school services of Marcella Agoncillo Elementary School in Binondo and Rafael Palma Elementary School in Vito Cruz. Two rounds of visits were conducted in both schools to ensure the quality of community-gathered data.

These students were under the supervision of Aralpinoy.org founder and Theology Professor Dr. Antonio Levy Ingles, Jr. Aralpinoy.org is, a non-stock, non-profit, and non-partisan organization dedicated to supporting education for youth coming from marginalized sectors of society.

Dr. Ingles noted that the community validation activity is fun and okay, although it can be tiring. He expressed enthusiasm in having another validation activity where he and his Theology students can participate.

Community validation is a CMS activity that aims to look at whether the reported data of a particular school on its resources, enrolment, and facilities are actually present. The validation activity also aims to look at school issues and problems that can be readily addressed by DepEd and other stakeholders.
