The Mongolian parliament passed a Freedom of Information law last June 16, 2011. The law gives every Mongolian the right to
“seek information from government institutions and authorities about their activities, human resources, budget, finance and procurement of goods and services with state funds.”
“Those operating on money from the government budget also have an obligation to reveal information to the public.
The law covers the work of goods and services purchased with money from state and provincial budgets, selection of tenders, and the budget, financial accounts and so on.”
The law will come into effect on December 1, 2011.
