Volunteers were tapped to serve as third-party monitors for the initiative dubbed as Pocomon Go! Creatively playing with the name of a popular mobile phone game, the initiative stands for People-powered Computer Monitoring for Good Governance.
Its mission was to track the delivery of computer packages to 66 senior high schools in Metro Manila. Each school received 51 computers, a printer, LCD projector and screen. The Department of Education procured the computer packages through the procurement system of the United Nations Development Programme.
For about three months in 2016, the recruited volunteers visited public schools to assess their readiness to accept the computers and then monitored their delivery and installation in the schools.
