A petition in change.org, started by checkmyschool for the Otto Lingue National High School in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, helped in getting the Department of Education in the Philippines to take action.  Ma. Theresa Tarranza, principal of Otto Lingue National High School was concerned that school was in danger of landslide because of a crumbling riprap  that protect the school.  Cracks started appearing on the riprap 5 years ago but the recent eartqukes gave the issue urgency.

Her efforts to enlist the help of the local government was not flourishing so with the help of checkmyschool, she started a petition in change.org.  In an update, it is said that the Department of Education has already sent a team to inspect the riprap and a dialogue has been scheduled to discuss what immediate actions can be done.
