The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Philippine Office (FES), will be launching the book Infusing Reform in Elections: The Partisan Electoral Engagement of Reform Movements in Post-EDSA Philippines to be held on December 15, 2011, Thursday, 6:00 pm at The Oracle Hotel & Residences located in Katipunan Avenue (in front of the Ateneo de Manila University Campus), Quezon City.
The book is about the partisan electoral engagement of reform movements in post-Marcos Philippines. The book documents the experience of groups, networks and individuals from the social movements who decided to go beyond civil society action to push for reforms in the partisan electoral arena, particularly by supporting a presidential candidate. The book situates this political development in the democratization process that Philippines went through after the end of Martial Law where forces new in mainstream politics emerge and take advantage of the democratic space to offer an alternative, a set of reform agenda and a reform-oriented way of politics in the electoral exercise.
